The annual Chinese Language Education Forum (CLEF) will be held on November 12-13, 2011. CLEF is to provide platform for policymakers, administrators, language instructors as well as product and service providers in the field of Chinese language education to exchange experiences and ideas and learn from each other.In addition to invited keynote and featured speakers, we also accept proposals for joint panel sessions and individual presentations. This is our official call for session proposals.

CLEF Program Committee will subject all submitted abstracts to two reviewing processes: (1) double-blind (at least three reviewers) process, (2) non-blind collective reviewing. These reviews will support the selection process of papers/abstracts for presentation at the conference and possible future publications.

Proposal Types

  1. 45-minute joint panel sessions (limited to three speakers per session)
  2. 45-minute individual presentations
  3. 20-minute individual reports, (Each two 20-minute reports on similar topics will be grouped into one 45-minute block.)

Presenters should avoid reading papers, but instead, share valuable information and skills in an engaging format.

Submission Guidelines

All proposals must be submitted online using Online Submission Form by midnight on Sunday, July 31, 2011. Notification of acceptance is planned for the week of August 31, 2011.

  3. Presenter Bio (100 words maximum for each presenter. If there is a third presenter, please type his/her Bio and brief personal information together with the second presenter’s Bio.This will appear in the CLEF Program as your bio if your proposal is accepted. )

    • Session title (Type title as it should appear in the CLEF program.)
    • Description (Strong content must show depth, originality and /or insight into your topic in a maximum of 300 words. This will appear in the CLEF Program as your session description if your proposal is accepted.)

  7. Primary language of presentation (Proposals must be submitted in either English or Chinese)

Presenter Responsibilties

Presenters whose proposals are selected for presentation MUST be available to present any day during the Convention. If a presenter cannot accept the assigned time, then the presentation must be cancelled.

o AV Equipment

CLEF will provide a basic AV package which includes an LCD projector with audio, screen and connecting cables. You are responsible for bringing or renting your own PC laptop if you are doing a PowerPoint presentation or any other equipment needed for your presentation.

o Internet Service

CLEF does not provide Internet connection. This cost is at the expense of the presenter. CLEF understands that using the Internet can be expensive and would like to suggest you simply capture screen shots of static web pages.

o Handouts

CLEF does not provide photocopying facilities.You are responsible to bring enough copies of your handouts. The presentation room capacity is about 100.
